Papa's Ice Cream Open for Business in Washougal Town Center

Finally! I've been waiting for something really cool to open up in the new building on Main Street, Washougal. And it doesn't get much cooler than this - an ice cream parlor!

Ivan Gering is Papa of Papa's Ice Cream and he is all things in this business - ice cream scooper, coffee maker, janitor and owner.

Papa's serves only the best - Umpqua Ice Cream from from Oregon, all-beef hotdogs, homemade granola and a secret-recipe, extra-special, chocolate chip cookie for the creation of the ultimate cookie sundae. Wash all this down with a cup of coffee made from beans roasted locally in Vancouver.

Folks with an extra-demanding sweet tooth can satisfy their cravings for candy at the candy counter stocked with a wide assortment from the Candy Basket in Portland. Kids will have fun with the penny candy shelf which stocks everything from root beer gummi bottles to old-fashioned rock candy on a stick.

My kids fell in love with Ivan who is a friendly, jolly sort of person. My son was particularly impressed with Ivan's plans for a Wii setup in the restaurant. Ivan really wants his place to be one where kids can hang out and enjoy themselves - a nice safe place to have fun. Kids and their parents will enjoy Ivan's birthday party plan which comes with a signature Papa's BIG Dish ice cream sundae which includes 10 generous scoops.

Papa's Ice Cream is located at:

1700 Main, Suite 130
Washougal, WA 98671

360-835-8555

Hours:
8:00am - 9pm: Monday - Saturday
1:00pm - 9pm: Sunday

I encourage everyone to check out this place. It's new. It's different. And it's fun. If you go, tell Papa Ivan, Stephanie Hatton from Goof Proof Services sent you.

i would have to agree that this is a really awesome place that FINALLY opened. The only thing bad about the place is that i didn't have a great time when i first went in. the manager was very disrespectful and i didn't care for his attitude. i got my ice cream and left right away. it was a very big disappointment.

Harry,

I'm very sorry you had a disappointing first visit to Papa's Ice Cream. My first visit was such a success, that I felt compelled to write about it.

One thing I try to remember when I check out a new business is that there are going to be some growing pains until the owner and the staff can get into the groove of things. I think this may be especially true in the food business. It's a very stressful time for new business owners and Ivan was probably just having a bad day.

Papa's Ice Cream is a fun idea for Washougal and I noticed they've added hot soup and chili to the menu. Harry, why don't you give Ivan another chance? Now that he's been open for awhile, I'm sure he's worked out a lot of kinks - like hiding that bad mood which we all have from time to time.

I took my family there a few weeks ago and had a great time! Its a place we will go often for late night treats. I am also planning a few field trips for my childcare and know that its a safe enjoyable place that the children will enjoy getting treats. I would recommend this to EVERYONE!

My three girls love going to Papas and trying the new ice creams but always end up getting their favorites- cookie dough, licorice and mint chocolate chip. I will admit I always get the same coffee but we still love going and love seeing Ivan.
